As always if you need a reminder of the reasons and rules behind this challenge have a read of the about me page. To see last month’s matched betting profit visit September’s results post here.
Well after bigging up my new routine last month, I actually managed to reverse my declining profits and almost hit an on target month. It felt like the offers dried up a little this month, I think the major bookies and casinos are waiting for late November/early December before rolling out their big Christmas bonuses.
Maximising Time Spent On Matched Betting
As you may have noticed, this website has changed quite dramatically in the last month, I’ve spent hours and hours crafting and writing posts, redesigning it and doing many other things on the back end.
I am pleased with how it’s shaping up, and I will never again have a case of writers block because the website covers so many bloody topics now!
All this time spent on the website meant I only had an hour per week day to get all my offers in. Barring a few Saturday mornings, I think I took nearly every weekend off, which I needed for recovery after putting in some serious hours for work, this blog and offers.
What ended up happening from about the second half of the month onwards was I would just log in to William Hill, do everything available and then call it quits there. This tactic worked out surprisingly ok, with one day returning £101.50 for an hours’ work! Not too shabby at all.
Total Profit: £362.88 Average Transaction Value: £4.08 Days Active: 25
Cumulative Percentage of Overall Target: 90.37%
Cumulative Profit: £4,518.72
Under/Over Monthly Target: – £53.79
William Hill Games Comes Up Trumps
For what seems like every single day of the month Hills have been running an offer “Wager £20 for £10” which I have been gleefully taking advantage of. Looking at my figures I think this offer alone, netted me over half of my total profit!
The procedure is simple, wager £20 on Mike Tyson Blackjack, and then head over to Hotline (using that little trick I mentioned in my advantage play hacks post) and hope for the best.
This reaped some serious rewards, including all the days where I suffered losses (screw you Mike!), I walked away with £191.55 of profit from that one offer alone, 53% of my overall total!
The one sad bit of news was that I lost my ability to use the daily flash odds boost (restricted to £3), I suppose this just happens when you’ve won as much I have. Fortunately, I have not yet been gubbed as I’ve still been enjoying their free bet offers.
Move Away from Sports Offers
As I eluded to above, I’ve noticed that hardly any of my time is spent on sports offers any more. This is usually because I finish work late in the afternoon or early evening, after all of the horses have finished.
So I can only get on sports offers that are for European Football, as there doesn’t tend to anything available on evening horse racing, and sod those greyhound offers, the lay markets are super scary, with hundreds of pounds flooding in just 2 minutes before the off and odds flying all over the place.
My lack of weekend commitment has probably hurt me, as I have said many times in the past, if you could only commit 3 or 4 hours every Saturday you would still do very well as a matched bettor. I will see if I can increase my hours on a Saturday morning in the month of November, but I’m not too hopeful.
Gub List is Steadily Growing
After going nearly a year with only losing Betway and Sky, it’s like someone has flicked a switch somewhere and opened up the floodgates on gubbings.
I think as it stands I’ve been promotion banned at the following bookmakers: Betway (all products), Sky (all products), Ladbrokes (sports, stealth gubbed casino), Coral (sports, stealth gubbed casino), Betfair (all products barring the exchange), Paddy Power (casino, possibly games too) and now I’m stake restricted on enhanced prices at William Hill.
Hopefully this month won’t be as crap for gubbings as the last few have been. I still have plenty of accounts to keep me going, especially on the advantage play side.
Another thing I seem to be writing about every single month is the fact I must have at least 15 more sign ups to do on the sports side, and more than double that on the casino side, and I haven’t even done a single bingo offer!
I’m not going to pretend that I’m suddenly going to start a spree of sign ups next month, but it would be nice if at least complete a few to bolster profits and tick them off the list.
Coming Toward the End of the Challenge
As you might have noticed I will be shortly coming to the end of the challenge. I only have to make another £481.28 over the space of the next two months, which (touch wood) should be very achievable. I am away on holiday at the end of November and beginning of December, which hopefully won’t hinder me too much.
With two full months to make that amount, I feel pretty comfortable about achieving my target within the specified time frame of a year. But all it would take is my gubbings streak to continue and lose a giant like William Hill and I would soon be in big trouble.
Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen, to be honest I would be happy to just have two solid, if unspectacular, months to just get across the line. I may even give up matched betting for a few weeks if I hit my target early and come at it again refreshed for 2019.
I’ll know much more about where I stand at the end of November.
Wish me luck!
