£500 TO £5000 CHALLENGE – Month 11 Results

As always if you need a reminder of the reasons and rules behind this challenge have a read of the about me page. To see last month’s matched betting profit visit October’s results post.

It feels strange to be writing this post since I haven’t done any matched betting whatsoever for over 2 weeks. I’ve been away in the USA and I’ve been frantically trying to catch up on work ever since I got back.

So, as expected, this was a month where I didn’t find much time to do any matched betting yet somehow I managed to earn more than last month despite only putting in literally around 15 hours for the entire month.

Sharp Decline in Sports Offers

I don’t know whether this is because I’ve lost some of my bigger accounts or not, but it just feels like the amount of available sports offers have really dried up for me. This is something I eluded to last month, but it became more painfully obvious this month when I had set aside an hour or so to hit offers and all I had were advantage play offers to go after.

I tend to work to hours similar to a normal 9 – 5 (except I finish a lot later!) which means I can’t get on any of the horses and it’s a real battle to even get on the mid-week football. Which means the vast majority of my profit now comes from evergreen advantage play offers which I can complete at any time.

This month was particularly kind to me with a huge win coming halfway through the month. William Hill really upped the game with their “Wager £20 for £10 bonus” and increased it to “Wager £50 get £25 bonus”.

Even though the wagering requirements were pretty steep, I managed to sail through, thanks to some big early wins and gradually increasing my stake size. I was actually a little bit gutted as I was up over £500 but had to give most of it back as my winnings were capped at £100!

I did however, mange to eke out another £40 from the last spin loophole (from a £360 last spin!!!).

Imagine if I had hit a bonus round with that??

You reckon I could have retired on it?

I guess we will never know.

But I don’t like this increasing culture of capping your winnings on casino offers as you can’t take home your huge profits if you do indeed manage to get lucky. I’m also sure this lowers the EV of the offer somehow, but I’m not a mathematician so I don’t know how exactly to demonstrate it.

As you can see I had some very tasty wins on Hotline but I had to give the majority of my winnings back 😢

Matched Betting Fatigue

I’m just going to come out and say it.

I’m just not as enthusiastic getting through the casino and sports offers as I used to be.

It’s started to feel a lot like work, instead of a hobby I get paid to do!

This doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s a great way of money an additional side income, in fact I think it is the best around in the UK for the amount of money you receive per hours worked.

It just means I’ve got into a monotonous rut with it. I’ve seen other bloggers in this space talking about exactly the same thing and thought it would never happen to me, but here we are, over a year in and I am ready for a rest.

I think the fact I’ve recently been putting in a lot of extra hours after and before work isn’t helping. My freelancing business continues to grow and this website is slowly taking off, all of which cramps my time spent managing social media for my clients, and leaves even less time to get through the offers.

It’s a tough balancing act and it’s one of the reasons I am imposing a matched betting break on myself as soon as I hit my £5000 target. I just need time to focus on other things for a while and then I can come back refreshed and hit the offers hard in 2019.

Just Over £100 Left to Achieve

As I’ve said above, I am inches away from my target. I just need an extra £113.06 to achieve my £5000 target within 12 months. I am a little worried because we are already on the 7th of December and I haven’t done a lick of matched betting.

This is mostly due to my holiday but I’ve been back a few days now and I’ve been so busy catching up with work that I haven’t has chance to get stuck into anything yet, there could be some cracking offers out there (I’ve just seen that BETDAQ are now offering 0% commission for Oddsmonkey Premium members!) that I’m not taking advantage of.

Hopefully I can hit that target as soon as possible and just chill in the evenings leading up to Christmas, I would really appreciate the rest!

I’ll let you know in January how I got on.
